New Astound makes your canola practically impenetrable. While other fungicides only offer systemic protection, Astound also controls Sclerotinia right on contact. It works from the outside in, and the inside out, making it the most complete disease protection available.

Yield loss due to sclerotinia is roughly one-half of the percentage of infected plants in the field. If, for example, approximately 10% of your canola field is infected with sclerotinia, yield loss can be expected to be in the 5% range.

Astound should be applied prior to any visible signs of disease. Because sclerotinia infects petals first, Astound should be applied when the crop is between 20% and 50% bloom, and ideally at 30% bloom like this photo above.

The fungus overwinters in the soil and on stubble. It spreads by direct contact with mycelia or by spore producing apothecia, which has a mushroom like appearance. Apothecia release millions of spores that land on canola flower petals - when they germinate it starts the disease life cycle over again.
