Application Information

Always add a non-ionic surfactant such as Agral 90 at 0.2% v/v.

Mixing Order

  1. Ensure that the sprayer is totally clean.
  2. Fill the sprayer half full with water. Engage gentle agitation.
  3. Ensure that the agitation system is working properly and that it creates a rippling or rolling action on the water surface.
  4. Add any WG or DF formulation mix partners and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  5. Add CALLISTO GT Herbicide and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  6. Add any SE or SC formulation mix partners and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  7. Add any EC formulation mix partners and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  8. Fill the tank to ¾ the required amount of water.
  9. Add any solution (SN or SL) formulation mix partners and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  10. Add non-ionic surfactant (NIS). For example, AGRAL® 90 at 0.2% v/v.
  11. Finish filling the sprayer with water, maintaining good agitation.
  12. After any break in spraying operations, agitate thoroughly before spraying again.
  13. Spray the pesticide suspension the same day as mixing.
  14. Do not mix, load or clean spray equipment where there is a potential to contaminate wells or aquatic

Effects of Weather

  • Dry weather conditions as well as excessive rainfall or irrigation following application may reduce weed control.
  • Avoid application when heavy rain is in the forecast.

Use Restrictions

  • Do not cultivate corn within 7 days before or after application of Callisto GT.
  • DO NOT apply by air.
  • Make only 1 application per year.
  • Do not apply to soils that contain less than 1% or more than 10% organic matter.
  • Do not apply when weather conditions may cause drift to non-target area.  To avoid spray drift, do not apply when wind speed is greater than 16 km/h or during periods of temperature inversions.  Use of larger droplet sizes will also reduce spray drift.
  • The use of urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) will result in crop injury and reduced grass weed control.
  • Do not make a foliar post-emergent application of any organophosphate or carbamate insecticide within 7 days before or 7 days after a Callisto GT application or severe injury may occur to corn.  Severe corn injury and crop yield loss may occur if Callisto GT is applied to corn crops that are treated with LorsbanTM.
  • Recropping Restrictions:
    • Winter Wheat – 3 months
    • Spring Wheat, Field Corn (grain or silage), Seed Corn, Sweet Corn – 10 months
    • Alfalfa, Potato, soybeans, Transplanted Tomatoes, White Beans – 11 months
    • All Other Crops - bioassay

Crop Safety

Callisto GT has a high level of crop safety in glyphosate tolerant corn.

Tank Mixes

  • When applied as a tank-mix combination, read and observe all label directions, including rates, and restrictions for each product used in the tank-mix.
  • Follow the most stringent label precautionary measures for mixing, loading, applying, and post-application re-entry stated on tank-mix product labels.
  • For tank mixes, observe the largest (most restrictive) buffer zone of the products involved in the tank mixture and apply using the coarsest spray (ASAE) category indicated on the labels for those tank mix partners.
  • It is important to check the physical compatibility of tank mixed pesticide products in a small volume prior to filling the sprayer. Check the compatibility of tank mixes containing CALLISTO GT Herbicide using a jar test with proportionate amounts of mix partners, and water, before mixing in the spray tank.

Technical Information

Chemistry Group

Group 27, Group 9

Mode of Action

Callisto GT is a suspension concentrate containing the soil residual activity of mesotrione and the contact activity of glyphosate is absorbed through the leaves and is rapidly translocated to the plant’s growing points.

Mesotrione (Group 27) is a selective herbicide that interferes with the weed’s photosynthetic ability so that it is unable to protect itself from the sun, resulting in bleaching and death.

Glyphosate (Group 9) is a non-selective herbicide that kills weeds at their growing points.

Resistance Management

Where possible, rotate the use of Callisto GT or other Group 27 and/or Group 9 herbicides with different herbicide groups that control the same weeds in a field.
