Syngenta Canada Announces Registration of Cruiser Maxx® Pulses for All Pulse Crops including Chickpeas and Lentils

Syngenta Canada is pleased to announce that Cruiser Maxx® Pulses is now registered as a seed care treatment for use on chickpeas, lentils, lupins and faba beans. Cruiser Maxx Pulses provides early-season control of wireworm as well as protection against several diseases including seed-borne ascochyta blight and foot rot, seed rot and damping-off caused by Pythium spp., Rhizoctonia spp. and Fusarium spp. and seed rot and seedling blight caused by seed-borne Botrytis spp.

Already registered for use as a seed care treatment for dry beans and peas, Syngenta has worked closely with the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), Pulse Canada and numerous pulse growers to gain registration of Cruiser Maxx Pulses across all pulse crops in time for the 2010 growing season.

“We are delighted to have received registration for Cruiser Maxx Pulses on chickpeas and lentils in time to help pulse growers minimize pest damage and reap yield advantages this growing season,” said Paul Allen, Seed Care Brand Manager, Syngenta Canada. “This is good news for pulse growers across Canada, particularly those in Saskatchewan, who are facing a growing threat from pests and diseases such as wireworm and fusarium. Cruiser Maxx Pulses has already proved to be a cost-effective preventative treatment for peas, so we are very pleased to extend this protection across other pulse crops this year.”

Based on the active ingredients thiamethoxam, metalaxyl-M and fludioxonil, Cruiser Maxx Pulses is offered as a co-pack of Cruiser® 5FS Seed Treatment and Apron Maxx® RTA® Seed Treatment Fungicide or Apron Maxx® RFC Seed Treatment Fungicide. It works through contact and by systemic activity to protect the seed and developing seedling from pests and diseases, and helps create healthy roots, faster emergence and stronger stand establishment.

Cruiser Maxx Pulses is available through commercial seed care treaters as part of a closed system application.
