The Syngenta ‘Get Your Fingers On The Pulse’ Food Demo and Tasting Raises Pulses at the 2009 Crop Production Week

Chef Simon Reynolds raised pulses at the Syngenta ‘Get Your Fingers on The Pulse’ food demo and tasting at the 2009 Crop Production Week in Saskatoon on January 13th.

Syngenta spokesperson Rebecca Krip was also on hand to talk about the many agronomic benefits of pulses, including their ability to ‘fix’ their own nitrogen, improve soil quality and increase crop yield in subsequently planted crops.

Chef Reynolds prepared delicious and nutritious snacks made from locally grown Saskatoon pulses (peas, chick peas, lentils, beans and faba beans) for the hungry tradeshow delegates. He also discussed the many health benefits of pulses, including the high protein, fiber and complex carbohydrates found in these foods and their ability to lower blood glucose and the risk of heart diseases when included in a well balanced diet.
