Discover why greener plants are delivering more to your bottom line
24 avril 2025
Healthy plants are more productive. They produce better quality and higher yields, making plant health the ultimate return on investment for farmers. But what does plant health really mean, and how does it translate to a better bottom line?
Maybe you’ve used a Syngenta fungicide such as Miravis® or Elatus® and wondered why it looked so green and healthy?
Thanks to extensive research from the Syngenta development teams around the world, we’ve got answers that are founded in scientific data* to explain why plants treated with ADEPIDYN® and SOLATENOL® are greener, healthier and deliver more yield.
Disease protection comes first
When choosing the right fungicide to protect a crop your first considerations should be things like target disease, disease pressure and the growing conditions that you are facing.
Plant health benefits translate to improved crop development, higher yields, and better quality at harvest.
Not all fungicides are created equal
Syngenta fungicides Miravis® and Elatus® are proven to provide not only excellent disease control but additional plant health benefits like increasing light energy capture, improving water conservation and boosting yield and crop quality.
Choosing crop protection products, like Miravis® and Elatus® fungicides is the first step to promoting plant health by providing the highest level of protection against some of the most difficult and destructive diseases on a wide range of Canadian field crops.
It’s thanks to the active ingredient ADEPIDYN® in Miravis® and SOLATENOL® in Elatus® that the fungicides provide not only long-lasting protection against key diseases but also plant health effects that can help drive farm profits.
These plant health effects from ADEPIDYN® and SOLATENOL® fall into three categories:
Increased light energy capture thanks to more chlorophyll.
The greening effect from the ADEPIDYN® and SOLATENOL® actives is linked to increased chlorophyll and light capture, allowing the plant to function and develop optimally, and look greener and healthier. By reducing premature senescence, plants can continue to utilize the sun's energy ultimately leading to increased yield and quality benefits.
Improved water conservation for more efficient and productive crops.
A plant’s ability to maintain moisture is directly linked to yield potential, because without effective water conservation, plants will shut down and reduce photosynthesis or restrict plant growth. Improved water conservation is extremely important because it also increases nutrient use efficiency.
In scientific studies conducted by Syngenta in 2017 and 2019, scientists found that ADEPIDYN® and SOLATENOL® help reduce plant transpiration rates (the loss of water out of a plant) while maintaining stable photosynthesis*. This allows plants to conserve water and continue developing, even in drought, or water stressed conditions.
Enhanced harvest efficiency and quality that translates to yield.
Higher yielding and better-quality crops translate to a more profitable harvest, but it’s important to remember that healthier crops also extend to healthier straw and stubble, among other agronomic and profit boosting benefits.

Green delivers on the bottom line
The science and data behind the effects provided by ADEPIDYN® and SOLATENOL® actives confirm that not only do they provide powerful disease protection but also improve plant health. This translates to improved return on investment for farmers because of higher yields and improved crop quality.
