highbush blueberry mummy berry infection

In 2022, Miravis® Neo (ADEPIDYN® + azoxystrobin + propiconazole) fungicide debuted as a tool to protect highbush blueberries from mummy berry and Monilinia.

When applied at 0.3 L/acre at or near flower bud swell (or leaf bud swell), Miravis® Neo prevents primary infection for long-lasting control. (For more information about Miravis® Neo, download the label.)

If a Miravis® Neo application is part of your disease management plan, brush up on Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) in export markets before you spray.

What you need to know about MRLs and ADEPIDYN®

Syngenta knows establishing MRLs in export markets is important to Canadian highbush blueberry growers and packers. Every effort is made to establish harmonized MRLs or Import Tolerances (ITs) around the world.

In 2021, three fields treated with Miravis® Neo were tested for pydiflumetofen (ADEPIDYN®) residues. At harvest, those residues were less than 0.01 ppm. As a result, Syngenta recommends that Miravis® Neo only be applied on blueberry crops destined for distribution in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Exporting berries elsewhere?

If you liked Tilt® fungicide, try Quilt® this season. With two modes of action, Quilt has both preventive and curative properties and moves to protect buds as they develop.

  • At 0.4 L/acre, Quilt controls both mummy berry and anthracnose.
  • Time application at flower bud swell to manage the primary infection stage.
  • Make a second application 7 to 10 days later if conditions remain conducive to development of the disease.
  • For more information about Quilt® fungicide, download the label.

Please check with your packer or exporter when using Miravis® Neo, and/or Quilt on berries destined for use outside of Canada. At time of distribution, Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) had been established for the active ingredients pydiflumetofen for export markets in the United States, and azoxystrobin and propiconazole for export markets in the United States and Japan. Please see the Bryant Christie Inc. Global MRL database at https://www.globalmrl.com/db#query for a complete list of MRLs. Should you need additional information on export market MRLs, please consult with Syngenta to receive the most up-to-date information.

Performance evaluations are based on internal trials, field observations and/or public information. Data from multiple locations and years should be consulted whenever possible. Individual results may vary depending on local growing, soil, and weather conditions. Always read and follow label directions.
