Foundation Acre Soybeans: Why should your soybeans never see weeds?
11 avril 2024

Soybeans can lose from 0.5 to 2 bushels/acre every day weeds are present due to competition.
1 Targeting weeds before they emerge or when they are small and using multiple effective modes of action in the tank on targeted weeds are important tactics in resistance management and preventing yield loss due to interference.

What makes Boundary LQD a great herbicide choice in both conventional and traited soybeans across all trait platforms?
- Protects against yield loss from early weed competition
- Goes across every trait platform
- Liquid sencor makes it very compatible with other herbicides
- Provides control of annual grasses, nightshade, redroot pigweed and glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane and waterhemp
What is in Boundary LQD?
Boundary LQD herbicide is a pre-mix liquid formulation of s-metolachlor (Group 15 and the active ingredient in Dual II Magnum
®), and metribuzin (Group 5 and the active in Sencor
®) that is an easy to mix solution for all soybean acres.
When can it be applied?
Pre-plant (up to 30 days), pre-plant incorporated and pre-emergence
What is the recommended rate?
1 L/ac (equivalent of 0.7 L/ac of Dual® and 200 g/ac of Sencor® 75DF)
What is the package size?
- 2 x 10 L case (treats 20 acres at 1L/ac)
- 450 L tote (treats 450 acres at 1L/ac)
Any application recommendations?
- Use at least 15 gal/ac of water.
- Please visit our Boundary LQD product pages for conventional or herbicide-tolerant soybeans for the label, SDS, and additional application information.

What is in Tavium?
Tavium Plus VaporGrip® Technology herbicide is a pre-mix formulation of s-metolachlor (Group 15), the active ingredient in Dual II Magnum, and dicamba (Group 4), the active ingredient in Xtendimax® with VaporGrip® Technology herbicide. It’s registered for Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® soybeans only. This formulation does not have the safener benoxacor for corn.
When can it be applied?
Tavium can be applied pre-plant, pre-emergence, or post-emergent to the crop up to V2. If soybeans are emerged at the time of application, you can expect to see some drawstring effect on soybean leaves from the s-metolachlor, but it shouldn’t have an impact on yield.
What is the rate?
1.7 L/ac (equivalent of 0.5 L/ac of Dual and 0.65 L/ac of Xtendimax®)
What is the package size?
- 2 x 8.5 L case (treats 10 acres)
- 450 L tote (treats 265 acres)
Any application recommendations?

What are other examples of herbicide mixes with Tavium or Boundary LQD that provide effective control of problem weeds in each of the trait systems?
- Include two non-group 9 herbicides PRE to the crop
- Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans: Boundary LQD + Eragon® LQ + Merge®
- Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® soybeans: Boundary LQD + Xtendimax® with VaporGrip® Technology or Engenia® plus VaporGrip® Technology or FeXapan™ plus VaporGrip® Technology; or Tavium + Eragon® LQ + Merge®
- Enlist® E3 soybeans: Boundary LQD + Eragon® LQ + Merge® or Boundary LQD + Enlist Duo™
What products are Boundary LQD and Tavium compatible with?
Boundary LQD and Tavium mix well with the most commonly used products, especially when you ‘mix and go’. Below are a few of the tank mixes we have tested with Boundary LQD (1 L/ac) and Tavium (1.7 L/ac), along with proper mixing order. When in doubt use Wales mixing order. A jar test is recommended before tank mixing to ensure the physical compatibility of various products.
