About this product

AAC Synergy 2-Row Malt Barley produces heavy, plump kernels and short, strong straw with good resistance to lodging. With a combination of high yield, good foliar disease resistance and excellent malting quality, AAC Synergy is a strong option for Western Canadian barley producers and the malting and brewing industry.

  • AAC Synergy is a 2-Row Malting Barley widely adapted to all barley growing regions of Western Canada. This variety is still in the market development stage.
  • AAC Synergy has a desirable malting quality profile with higher malt extract than AC Metcalfe and CDC Copeland, as well as consistently lower beta-glucan content and viscosity.

Performance

Disease:

  • Resistant to spotted net blotch
  • Moderately resistant to netted net blotch, spot blotch, stem rust, common root rot and surface borne smuts
  • Moderately susceptible to Fusarium head blight
  • Susceptible to loose smut, scald and Septoria

Maturity:  Similar to AC Metcalfe

Protein:  0.5% lower than AC Metcalfe

Plump:  3% higher than AC Metcalfe

Test Weight:  Similar to AC Metcalfe

Height:  1.4 cm shorter than AC Metcalfe

Yield:

  • 13% higher yield than AC Metcalfe
  • 7% higher yield than CDC Copeland
