Application Information

  • Include a non-ionic surfactant such as Agral® 90 at 0.2% v/v when tank mixing with AAtrex.
  • Apply from the spike to the 6-leaf stage, no need to wait for later-emerging weeds to appear.
  • To maximize weed control, use 0.24 L/ac of AAtrex® Liquid.
  • Apply to actively growing weeds that are less than 15 cm high.
  • To protect the yield potential in corn, it is recommended that Halex GT be applied before the critical weed-free period.

Mixing Order

  1. Ensure that the sprayer is totally clean.
  2. Fill the sprayer half full with water. Engage gentle agitation.
  3. Ensure that the agitation system is working properly and that it creates a rippling or rolling action on the water surface.
  4. Add the non-ionic surfactant if applicable (e.g., Agral 90) at 0.2% v/v.
  5. Add AAtrex Liquid 480 (if an applicable tank mix) slowly and agitate until completely dispersed.
  6. Add Halex GT herbicide.
  7. To ensure complete dispersion, wait 2 or 3 minutes after the last of the herbicide has been added to the tank.
  8. Continue agitation while completing the filling of the sprayer with water.
  9. Always ensure that agitation is maintained until spraying is completed, even if stopped for brief periods of time.
  10. If agitation is stopped for more than 5 minutes, re-suspend the spray solution by running on full agitation prior to spraying. Halex GT Herbicide must be sprayed the same day as mixing.
  11. Do not mix, load or clean spray equipment where there is a potential to contaminate wells or aquatic systems.

Use Restrictions

  • Re-cropping intervals:
    • Winter wheat: 4.5 months
    • Spring wheat: 10 months
    • Alfalfa, potato, soybean, transplanted tomato, white beans: 11 months
    • All other crops: bioassay
  • Make no more than one application of Halex GT per year.
  • NOTE: Do not make a foliar post-emergent application of an organophosphate or carbamate insecticide within seven days before or after applying Halex GT, and do not tank mix with any such insecticide, or severe crop injury will occur.

Mode of Action

Halex GT contains three active ingredients, each with a different mode of action.

Mesotrione (Group 27) is a selective herbicide that interferes with the weed’s photosynthetic ability so that it is unable to protect itself from the sun, resulting in bleaching and death.

S-metolachlor (Group 15) is a selective herbicide that restricts root and shoot development, so weeds fail to grow.

Glyphosate (Group 9) is a non-selective herbicide that kills weeds at their growing points.
