Applied in-furrow, Orondis® Gold Potato fungicide goes to work early in the season, protecting your potatoes throughout the year from damaging diseases such as pink rot and Pythium leak. Orondis Gold Potato combines the power of metalaxyl-M (Group 4) with oxathiapiprolin (Group 49) – a new mode of action to suppress pink rot and help manage resistance.

Packaging

Orondis Gold Potato is a co-pack of Orondis Gold A 200SC fungicide and Orondis Gold B 480SL fungicide.
Each case contains 2 x 2.84 L of Orondis Gold A 200SC and 2 x 3.56 L of Orondis Gold B 480SL.
One case will treat 40 acres of potatoes at 36-inch row spacing.

Application Information

Use Rates

Apply Orondis Gold Potato at a rate of:

  • 3.2 mL/100 m row of Orondis Gold A 200SL fungicide
  • 4 mL/100 m row of Orondis Gold B 480SL fungicide
  • Orondis Gold A 200SC at 0.35 L/ha (0.142 L/ac) + Orondis Gold B 480SL at 0.44 L/ha (0.178 L/ac)
  • One case will treat 40 acres of potatoes at 36-inch row spacing

Application Method

In-furrow

Application Information

Apply once as an in-furrow spray in 40 L per hectare of water (4 gpa) at planting. Mount spray nozzle so the spray is directed into the furrow as a 15-20 cm band just before the seed is covered.

Mixing Order

  1. Ensure that the solution tank interior is clean, then fill the tank with half the required amount of water and engage gentle agitation if possible. Good agitation is indicated by a rippling or rolling action on the surface of the water.
  2. Add any WG or DF formulation mix partners and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  3. Add Orondis Gold A 200SC and any additional SE or SC formulation mix partners, then agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  4. Add any EC formulation mix partners and agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  5. Fill the tank to three-quarters of the required amount of water.
  6. Add Orondis Gold B 480SL and any other solution (SN or SL) formulation mix partners, then agitate to ensure complete mixing.
  7. Finish filling the solution tank with water, maintaining good agitation.
  8. After any break in planting operations, agitate thoroughly before planting again.
  9. Apply the pesticide suspension the same day as mixing.
  10. Do not mix, load or clean spray equipment where there is a potential to contaminate wells or aquatic systems

Use Restrictions

  • Do not apply more than one application per season.
  • Do not follow soil applications with foliar applications of Orondis fungicides, any other fungicides containing oxathiapiprolin, or any other product containing a FRAC Group 49 fungicide.

Orondis Gold Potato contains Group 49 and Group 4 fungicides.

Mode of Action

The mode of action of oxathiapiprolin, the active ingredient in Orondis Gold A 200SC, is novel and has been assigned the FRAC code 49. Oxathiapiprolin inhibits an oxysterol binding protein (OSBP) homologue. Oxysterol binding proteins are implicated in the movement of lipids between membranes, among other processes. Inhibiting OSBP may disrupt other processes in the fungal cell, such as signaling, maintaining cell membranes, and the formation of more complex lipids that are essential for the cell to survive.

The mode of action of metalaxyl-M, the active ingredient in Orondis Gold B 480SL, belongs to the FRAC code 4. Metalaxyl-M inhibits rRNA biosynthesis (polymerase complex I), which means that cells cannot reproduce.

Resistance Management

Apply as part of a preventative disease control program.

Do not follow soil applications of Orondis Gold Potato with foliar applications of this or other products containing oxathiapiprolin (i.e. Orondis Ultra).
