About this Product

Reflex® herbicide gives you what you're looking for when it comes to controlling broadleaf weeds in your beans. Reflex provides fast knockdown and short-term residual broadleaf weed control including all biotypes of ragweed, pigweed and nightshade.

Product Benefits

  • Broad spectrum post-emergent control of tough broadleaf weeds.
  • Controlling ragweed with Reflex protects your crops from a threat that steals precious yield if left unchecked.
  • Reflex has been shown to be an effective alternative to Group 2 herbicides.

Packaging

Each case contains 2 x 10 L jugs (50 ac/case)

Uses

For use on:

Reflex offers excellent crop tolerance to all varieties of soybeans, all varieties of dry common beans and snap common beans (yellow and green). Do not treat any crop other than those listed above.

For management of:

Reflex delivers effective control of these broadleaf weeds (up to the specified maximum number of leaves in brackets):

*suppression only

Application should be made when the main flush of weeds is complete and the majority of the weeds are at the cotyledon to 3 or 4 true leaf stage.

Application Information

Use Rates

Apply 0.4 L / acre of Reflex (1.0 L / ha) of Reflex. Use Reflex with the adjuvant Turbocharge® at 0.25% v/v of spray solution.

Water Volume

Use a minimum of 20 gal per acre of water and at a pressure of 245 kPa (35 PSI).

It is essential to achieve good coverage and ample penetration of foliage.

Application Method

Ground

Application Information

Apply Reflex using ground equipment only. Spray using a minimum water volume of 200 L/ha (80 L/ac or 20 gpa).

Apply Reflex at the early post-emergent 1-4 leaf weed stage, for the most effective control of ragweed and other yield-robbing weeds. Apply when weeds are actively growing and:

  • Soybeans, dry beans and snap beans are at the 1-2 trifoliate leaf stage.
  • The main flush of weeds is complete, with the majority of weeds at the cotyledon to 4 true leaf stage.

Reflex is a contact herbicide, so it's important to achieve good coverage and penetration of foliage for maximum results. Do not apply more than once a season, or to any field two years in a row.

Apply at a pressure of 245 kPa. Increased water volume (350L) and pressure (420 kPa) are recommended for heavy weed densities or weeds that are at the upper limit of the recommended stage for treatment. Avoid overlap when spraying. Do not apply when wind velocity is greater than 15 km/h.

Mixing Order

WALES Symbol: L

Use Restrictions

  • It is essential to achieve good coverage and ample penetration of the foliage.
  • Apply when weeds are actively growing.
  • Some bronzing, crinkling or spotting of soybean, dry edible bean and snap bean leaves may occur, but plants normally outgrow these effects with no adverse effects on maturity or crop yield.

Tank Mixes

Use Reflex tank mixes for more complete, one-pass control.

  • Pinnacle®
  • Pursuit®
  • Venture® L

The tank mix of Venture L + Reflex can also be used on dry beans.

Group 14 herbicide

Mode of Action

Reflex is a contact herbicide containing 240 g/L of fomesafen (as sodium salt). Reflex absorbs on contact and dries in just one hour. Effects can be seen in one to three days, depending on the weed species.

Resistance Management

For resistance management, Reflex is a Group 14 herbicide. Any weed population may contain or develop plants naturally resistant to Reflex and other Group 14 herbicides. The resistant biotypes may dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly in the same field. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action, but specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance-management strategies should be followed.

Group 2 Alternative:
Resistance to ALS inhibitor (Group 2) chemistry exists in Canada on:

  • Chickweed
  • Common ragweed
  • Hempknettle
  • Kochia
  • Nightshade
  • Redroot pigweed
  • Wild mustard
  • Wild oats

Redroot pigweed resistance to Group 2 herbicides has been found in several counties in south-western and south-central regions of Ontario. Reflex has been shown to be an effective alternative to Group 2 herbicides.
