Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® Soybeans
Syngenta is introducing several new NK Soybean varieties bred with Syngenta genetics and Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® technology. The Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® trait provides tolerance to both glyphosate (Group 9) and dicamba (Group 4) herbicides, allowing growers to use multiple modes of action to help manage tough-to-control weeds including glyphosate-resistant giant ragweed, common ragweed, and Canada fleabane.
Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® Soybeans
Several NK Soybean varieties with the Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® trait are also available. The Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® trait provides tolerance to glyphosate (Group 9) herbicides.
Phytophthora Race Resistance
Several soybean varieties are available with genetic resistance against Phytophthora root rot races including Rps1a, Rps1c, Rps1k, Rps3a, Rps6 and combinations of those races. Developed from one of the most advanced germplasm pools in the soybean industry, NK Soybeans provide superior, built-in disease protection.
Phytophthora Field Tolerance
Having a major gene race resistance is a great advantage, but it is limited to controlling only that specific race. NK Soybeans with Phytophthora field tolerance cover a wider range of races.
Syngenta runs extensive field screening early in the variety development to ensure the soybeans with or without a specific race resistance have good field tolerance for a wider range of races.
Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN)
NK Soybeans have proven resistance against Soybean Cyst Nematode. Varieties marked with SCN Solutions exhibit some manner of resistance to a specific race of SCN. Through our Canadian breeding efforts, Syngenta is striving to move SCN resistance into earlier varieties as we see these pests move into shorter-season zones.
White mould, also known as Sclerotinia stem rot, is a fungus that favours cool, wet weather. It’s passed on as sclerotia in the soil for the next crop year, making it important to manage early. NK Soybeans are available with superior, built-in disease protection in the form of genetic tolerance to white mould. White mould is a difficult disease to predict as there are so many variables but with unique field screening methods Syngenta has developed varieties with superior white mould tolerance. Sudden Death Syndrome
Among the most destructive soybean diseases, sudden death syndrome (SDS) has the potential to significantly reduce yields. Preventive actions are essential because once the disease becomes apparent, control options are ineffective. Syngenta has varieties and seed treatment options to improve disease management, such as soybean varieties with proven tolerance to SDS. If SDS pressures exist, you can look for SDS ratings when selecting your varieties.
Pod & Stem Blight
Pod and stem blight fungi overwinter in soybean tissue residue and in infected seeds. Crop rotation, a timely harvest, quality, pathogen-free seed and fungicides help, as well as using a soybean seed variety with resistance built in.
