botrytis on grapes

It is nearly time for your Botryticides in grapes. As we approach bloom, protect those flowers against the primary source of infection.

When is it time to use Miravis® Prime?

In grapes, Miravis® Prime (Group 7 and 12) brings dual modes of action for Botrytis and long-lasting protection against powdery mildew.

  • Generally, Miravis® Prime is applied at trace bloom through to berry touch.
  • Apply at 0.32 to 0.4 L/acre.
  • Over the last four years, Miravis® Prime has provided Botrytis control you can count on to protect yield and quality.

What if I am looking for something different to fight Botrytis this year?

Allegro® (Group 29) recently received a registration for Botrytis control in grapes. As a contact fungicide with antisporulant activity, Allegro is a new tool in the toolbox. Within a 5-spray program, Allegro application at berry touch resulted in 99% Botrytis-free grapes compared to 96% for Elevate®.

Allegro vs. Elevate
Source: Internal demonstration trial in ON, 2023, n = 1. Photo represents the number of grapes with and without Botrytis from 10 bunches per treatment after incubation at room temperature for 9 days. Bunches appeared healthy at the time of collection. Allegro (1 L/Ha) and Elevate (1.12 kg/Ha) were applied at berry touch (July 24) within a 5-spray program that also included Miravis® Prime (one application), Inspire Super (two applications) and Elevate (one application). Trademarks are property of their respective owners. Performance evaluations are based on internal trials, field observations and/or public information. Data from multiple locations and years should be consulted whenever possible. Individual results may vary depending on local growing, soil and weather conditions. Always read and follow label directions.

  • Allegro® is typically applied from pea-sized berry to bunch closure.
  • Apply at 1 L/ha (0.4 L/ac); 21 day PHI
  • As a unique mode of action in fighting Botrytis, Allegro is an excellent rotational partner to help delay resistance to other modes of action.
