Fungicides are an essential tool for growing high-yielding, top-quality pulse crops. However, a recent field study discovered a mutant strain of lentil anthracnose with insensitivity to all types of Group 11 (QoI, strobilurin) fungicides.

The good news? If you have Group 11 insensitive anthracnose in your lentils, you can still use Elatus® fungicide to protect yield and quality in your crop.

Elatus® is a co-pack of Elatus® A (azoxystrobin – Group 11) and Elatus® B (Solatenol® – Group 7) with two different modes of action. Research trials have shown that Elatus® B (Solatenol®) delivers strong activity against anthracnose – including Group 11 insensitive strains.

Remember: Elatus® is a preventative fungicide and works best when applied early. Keep these three tips in mind to help protect the yield and quality in your lentils:

  1. Scout early and often. Begin scouting prior to flowering and continue every five to seven days. (Find scouting tips in this article.)
  2. Apply Elatus® before anthracnose sets in. Early preventative application (at zero to 20 percent flowering) is important.
  3. Spray prior to row closure. If the fungicide is unable to reach the target site, you’ll see reduced benefits from the application.
