Orondis Gold now protects vegetables!
April 21, 2023
Growers can now rely on Orondis® Gold fungicide as a tool against crown and root infections by Phytophthora capsici and Pythium spp. in peppers, and downy mildew in onions.
Orondis Gold contains two systemic active ingredients to provide protection from the inside out: oxathiapiprolin (Group 49) and metalaxyl (Group 4).
Why use Orondis Gold in peppers?
One application of Orondis Gold at transplanting showed healthier root growth than the untreated check, even in a Phytophthora-infested field without extensive crown and root rot symptoms because of dry conditions.
The champion of Phytopthora root protection

How should Orondis Gold be used in peppers?
Preventative use is key to successful management of water moulds like P. capsici and Pythium spp., so use Orondis Gold at planting as your first application. Make at-planting applications in transplant water, as a drench or banded spray, or with drip irrigation.
Make sure you put the product where you need it to be – and that’s in the root zone. This means follow up irrigation is needed if the application method does not thoroughly wet the root zone and rain is not imminent.
Help keep Orondis Gold in the toolbox
Orondis Gold is at high risk for resistance development.
- Don’t make foliar applications of Orondis Ultra or any Group-49 containing product if you apply Orondis Gold to soil. Pick soil or foliar application, but not both!
- Follow the 1 in 3 rule: Use Orondis Gold (or any other Group 49-containing product) in no more than 33% of applications targeting labelled diseases, or no more than one application if the total number of planned applications is less than three.
- Do not make consecutive applications of Orondis Gold (or any other Group 49-containing product). Consider soil applications of Revus® as a rotational partner when targeting Phytophthora root and crown rot.
