Managing mites, leps, and psylla
As we transition from bloom to petal fall, it is time to start thinking about pest management. Below you will find a few strategies to keep your fruit happy and healthy. For the best results, we recommend checking in with your local agronomist for timely updates on degree days, scouting reports, and thresholds.
How does Minecto Pro fit in my program?
Minecto® Pro is a broad-spectrum insecticide/miticide containing abamectin (Group 6) and cyantraniliprole (Group 28). It is registered in apples and pears for control of post-bloom pests.
In apples, for control of both Lepidopteran pests and mites, apply after petal fall at 0.2 L/acre.
Visit the Minecto Pro product page to find the label, a complete list of pests, and recommendations for resistance management.
When should I use Agri-Mek insecticide?
Agri-Mek® SC insecticide provides powerful, fast-acting protection against a range of damaging mites and insects across a variety of crops, including apples and pears.
If you’re targeting mites in apples, apply Agri-Mek after petal fall at 70 mL/acre or 4.5 mL/100 L water.
For control of psylla in pears, apply after petal fall at 70 to 140 mL/acre or 4.5 to 9 mL/100 L water.

How do I get the most out of Minecto Pro and Agri-Mek
Timing and application are crucial to achieving optimal outcomes. If you have questions about best practices, your Syngenta representative can connect you to the knowledge and resources you need to navigate the intricacies of a great application and drive yield. Here are some tips to get you started:
- Focus your efforts on a quality application and sufficient coverage.
- Apply the product to young, succulent leaves that have not hardened, as cuticle hardness impacts abamectin uptake.
- Use an appropriate adjuvant.
A note on adjuvants
In both apples and pears, Minecto Pro needs an adjuvant to ensure thorough coverage and aid in penetration.
- Horticulture spray oils are the preferred option for Minecto Pro.
- If you prefer to use an NIS, be sure to choose one that will improve penetration. Binder or sticker types are insufficient.
