Protecting highbush blueberries against Botrytis?
May 18, 2022
When wet weather coincides with the approach of bloom, it’s important to protect those flowers against the primary source of infection.
Miravis® Prime fungicide brings dual modes of action for Botrytis in highbush blueberries (Crop Subgroup 13 07B), strawberries (Crop Subgroup 13 07G, excluding lowbush blueberries) and grapes.
Miravis® Prime should be applied at early bloom at a rate of 0.32 to 0.4 L/acre.
What about Switch®?
Switch 62.5WG fungicide is the global standard for Botrytis control in fruit crops. It also provides broad-spectrum protection, bringing additional control against key fruit rot pathogens like anthracnose.
Switch should be applied at early bloom at a rate of 0.31 to 0.39 g/acre.
What about resistance management?
Follow these seven steps to help manage fungicide resistance.
- Participate in resistance monitoring.
- Keep the applications from each FRAC group to a minimum.
- Alternate high-risk fungicides.
- Know your groups — find the FRAC Group on the product label.
- Mix it up — include low-risk fungicides in the tank.
- Use alternative disease control methods (improve air flow, manage your irrigation schedule, etc.).
- Only apply fungicides when needed.
Fludioxonil, an active ingredient at low to medium resistance risk, is in both Miravis® Prime and Switch. Manage Botrytis sustainably and use fungicides that contain fludioxonil only twice in a season to reduce the risk of developing resistance.
At time of publication, Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for the active ingredient pydiflumetofen (ADEPIDYN®) are not harmonized for all export countries. Please see the Bryant Christie Inc. Global MRL database for a complete list of MRLs. Please check with your exporter when using Miravis® Prime. Do not make more than two applications of any ADEPIDYN® containing product (e.g. Miravis® Neo or Miravis® Prime) on blueberries per year.
These are general considerations. Always consider the specific situation on your field and exercise good agronomic practices.
Always read and follow label directions. Miravis® Neo refers to Miravis® Neo 300SE fungicide. Miravis®, Switch® and the Syngenta logo are trademarks of a Syngenta Group Company.
