We created the Soybean Stand Establishment and Assessment Scorecard to assist you with your benchmarking and assessment of your production practices. It’s a vital tool to help identify improvements that enhance stand establishment and ultimately increase yield.
Use the scorecard to easily evaluate production factors including:
- Soybean variety
- Targeted seeding rate
- Seed treatment
- Calibrated planting equipment
- Planting dates
- Tillage within the seed zone
- Temperature at planting
- Actual stand count
- Uniformity of emergence
- Planting depth uniformity
- Estimated percent residue cover
- Uniformity within the row
You score points for following best practices as they relate to each of these factors. For example, is the soybean variety you planted recommended and is it Certified seed? You score two points if you answer yes to both. Another example – did you know the soil and air temperatures at planting? If so, you get another point and so on.
Once you answer all questions and add up the points, your results will categorize you as Master (17+), Proficient (13-16) or Basic (12 and under).
Using the Syngenta scorecard will allow you to compare results year over year, move your soybean production needle forward, and bring you closer in your quest to become Soy Master.
