Alberta Grains to Wind Down FarmCash Operations

Alberta Grains has announced plans to wind down its FarmCash program, ending its role as an administrator of the federal Advance Payments Program (APP) following a review of the organization's long-term strategic priorities.

In a statement Thursday, Alberta Grains said its board of directors determined that continuing to operate FarmCash no longer aligns with the organization's strategic direction.

The structured wind-down has already begun, with operations expected to be fully concluded in 2027.

As part of the transition, only producers with an existing spring advance through FarmCash will be eligible to apply for additional advances between Oct. 15 and Nov. 15, 2026, subject to standard program requirements. After Nov. 15, producers seeking further advances will need to work with a new program administrator.

Alberta Grains said existing FarmCash clients will receive direct communications outlining their available options, alternative administrators, transition timelines and any necessary steps.

Producers seeking additional information about the transition can visit farmcashadvance.com or contact info@farmcashadvance.com.
