Grains Push Higher Into the Weekend

CBOT grains finished Friday with another strong showing as crop concerns, fund buying and global supply risks kept momentum firmly pointed higher. December corn gained 3 cents to $5.36 1/2 per bushel, November soybeans jumped 20 cents to $12.88, and December wheat surged 23 1/2 cents to $7.84. Early U.S. yield disappointment and strengthening basis added support to corn, while soybeans benefited from export demand and a strong vegetable oil complex.

Wheat remained the leader as continued disruption around Black Sea exports forced more risk premium into futures. Russian and Ukrainian logistics remain constrained, keeping importers focused on alternative origins. Across the complex, the rally is attracting fresh speculative interest, but producer selling is also increasing as prices improve. Next week’s focus will remain on U.S. crop expectations, export demand and whether wheat can sustain the broader grain advance.
