Following five straight days of gains, canola finished lower for the second time in two days on Thursday.
Weakness in the Chicago soy complex as well as losses in palm oil and rapeseed weighed on canola, as did improving Prairie moisture conditions. The first weekly Saskatchewan crop report for the 2024 growing season pegged planting in that province at 12% complete as of Sunday, behind the five- and 10-year averages. Canola was estimated at 6% planted.
July canola fell $5.40 to $651.30, November was down $2.30 at $671.10, and January lost $1.50 to $677.40.
