Canola futures closed mixed on Friday, with the nearby January contract lower and new-crop November 2027 managing a modest gain.
The market remained under pressure following two sessions of sharp declines, with weakness in competing vegetable oil markets and uncertainty surrounding global trade continuing to weigh. Bargain buying following the recent selloff provided some underlying support.
Saskatchewan's final crop report for the 2026 growing season on Thursday, which estimated provincial canola yields below Statistics Canada's September forecast, also reinforced questions about the size of this year's Canadian crop.
January canola lost $1 to $752.20, and November 2027 added $2.20 to $753.90.
