Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) has begun construction of two new grain storage silos at its Port of Quebec terminal, part of a broader effort to strengthen the company's grain handling and export capabilities.
In an announcement earlier this month, the company said construction was underway after receiving the necessary authorizations from the Quebec Port Authority. The project is expected to be completed in early winter 2028.
According to a company release, the new silos will be fully integrated with the existing terminal, providing additional dockside storage capacity and greater operational flexibility to improve vessel loading and unloading. P&H said the investment will help optimize grain movement through the terminal while supporting future growth opportunities in Quebec and international export markets.
“This investment reflects our confidence in the future of Canadian agriculture and the critical role the Port of Quebec plays within our national network,” said Anthony Kulbacki, president of P&H's Grain Division.
The company described the Quebec terminal as a strategic export gateway within its coast-to-coast grain handling and transportation network.
The announcement of the start of construction came around the same time it was reported that P&H plans to close its grain elevator operations in Owen Sound, Ont., on Dec. 18. The company reportedly attributed that decision to an evaluation of its grain network and the Owen Sound terminal's long-term infrastructure requirements.
