Producer Deliveries Slow in December  


Month-over-month producer deliveries of major grains slowed markedly in December. 

According to a Statistics Canada report Friday, total Canadian grain deliveries in December amounted to 4.746 million tonnes, down 15.5% from November and the second lowest so far in the 2025-26 marketing year. However, December deliveries were little changed (-0.6%) compared to the 4.773 million tonnes delivered in the same month last year. 

At 1.565 million tonnes, producer deliveries of canola in December were down 3% from 1.615 million in November but still up from 1.512 million a year earlier. 

Wheat (excl durum) deliveries amounted to 1.983 million tonnes in December, down 26.2% from November and 9.7% below a year ago. Durum deliveries fell 19.2% from November to 564,335 tonnes but were still above 554,277 tonnes in December 2024. 

Oat deliveries declined 25% from November to 174,732 tonnes, and were 28% below last year. On the other hand, barley deliveries increased, rising 27.3% from November and up 57% from December 2024.
