Saskatchewan to Resume Agricultural Crown Land Lease Auctions in November

Saskatchewan is introducing a new system for allocating agricultural Crown land leases, with online auctions set to begin Nov. 9.

In a news release earlier this week, the provincial Ministry of Agriculture said eligible Crown land will be offered for lease on an ongoing basis as parcels become available, replacing the previous system of a single annual allocation.

McDougall Auctioneers Ltd. has been selected to conduct the online lease auctions.

"Saskatchewan producers rely on access to agricultural Crown land to support their operations and grow their businesses," Agriculture Minister David Marit said. "By moving to an ongoing allocation model, we are providing a transparent and accessible process that better aligns lease opportunities with producer needs and supports a strong and competitive agriculture sector."

Under the new approach, eligible agricultural Crown land, including parcels with expired leases, will be made available throughout the year rather than being held for an annual offering.

The province said the change is intended to create a more responsive allocation process while ensuring fair access and transparency for agricultural producers.

Interested bidders must meet the province's eligibility requirements, which are outlined on the Saskatchewan government's website.

Available lease opportunities will be posted on both the provincial government's Crown lands website and the McDougall Auctioneers website.
