For Manitoba, what could have been a disaster of epic proportions has instead been a slow expansion of clubroot over the last twenty years. It’s still a disease of serious concern, but why hasn’t it spread faster or caused more damage across Manitoba? Dr. David Kaminski, field crop plant pathologist with Manitoba Agriculture, has some of those answers in this episode of the Canola School, including the use of resistant genetics, soil testing, scouting, and soil properties, adding that although some aspects of avoidance have been successful, this is a disease that still requires constant vigilance.
