Syngenta Canada Inc. has introduced Curanza™, a new canola insecticide seed treatment featuring the highest rate of cyantraniliprole available to canola growers.
Curanza is an insecticide seed treatment built for the realities of Canadian canola production. It delivers protection against crucifer and striped flea beetles, as well as cutworms. Its rate of 800 g a.i./100 kg seed of cyantraniliprole helps provide strong, long-lasting insect control when early-season pest pressure can threaten crop establishment.
“We understand that growing canola means every acre is a significant investment in seed and field preparation. Most management decisions are made months ahead of seeding, before knowing which pest pressures the season will bring,” says Justin Bouvier, product lead for Seedcare with Syngenta Canada. “Curanza gives growers a new option to protect their early-season stand establishment from the ground up.”
He adds that Curanza is also registered on mustard.
In Syngenta small-plot trials conducted across Saskatchewan and Manitoba from 2023 to 2025, Curanza reduced flea beetle damage by 2% compared with BUTEO® start at 20 days after emergence and delivered 3% more plants at six days after emergence.1,2
Curanza contains cyantraniliprole, a Group 28 insecticide that is not used as a foliar application in canola for flea beetles or cutworms. This helps preserve growers’ in-season insecticide options while supporting an integrated resistance-management approach.
