Syngenta Canada announced today the retirement of its president, Trevor Heck, after an incredible 34-year career with the agricultural innovation company. He leaves as a highly respected leader who has skillfully guided the organization through remarkable growth and strategic transformation.
"I feel incredibly fortunate to have contributed to Syngenta’s purpose and made a meaningful difference for our customers," says Heck, who served in 12 roles across Canada, North America, and Europe during his time with Syngenta and its legacy companies. "I'm deeply proud of what we've achieved together."
With Heck’s retirement, Shaun Vey has been promoted to president, effective January 1, 2026. Currently serving as head of sales, Vey has gained a breadth of leadership experience during his 14-year career with the company in roles spanning sales and marketing, including the launch of the Miravis® portfolio in Canada, as well as globally as head of marketing for Syngenta UK, Ireland & Nordics.
“I am honoured to lead this incredible organization and committed to building on the legacy of exceptional leaders who have shaped Syngenta’s success,” he says. “We will continue to push boundaries, embrace new technologies, and create sustainable solutions that benefit our customers and the broader agricultural industry.”
Heck is widely recognized for his strong advocacy of Canadian agriculture and passion for the advancement of the sector. Most notably, he led CropLife Canada’s board of directors as chair for a three-year term and served on the executive for eight years.
“Advocating for this sector has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. Ensuring farmers have the support and tools they need to succeed is something I'll always care about,” says Heck. “I know Shaun shares the same commitment to our customers – they will be in good hands as he steps into his new role.”
Vey remains committed to the current strategic direction of the company.
“I firmly believe that exceptional results come from an intense focus on our retail partners and farmer customers, achieved by empowering our talented team,” he says. “My passion for Canadian agriculture runs deep, and I believe that people and innovation will continue to be the driving force behind our industry's success.”
Vey’s successor, the new head of sales for Syngenta Canada, will be announced in due course.
