What makes Acuron® a great herbicide choice to manage problem weeds in corn?Acuron combines three modes of action from four active ingredients in one product. This solution comes in an easy-to-use formulation that offers excellent crop safety and a wide, flexible application window.
What is in Acuron?
Acuron includes the active ingredients bicyclopyrone (Group 27), mesotrione (Group 27), S-metolachlor (Group 15), and atrazine (Group 5) plus benoxacor crop safener.
Acuron | Dual II Magnum | Callisto | AAtrex Liquid 480 | BIR |
---|
PRE-6 leaf | S-metalochlor (GR 15) | mesotrione (GR 27) | atrazine (GR 5) | bicyclopyrone (Gr 27) |
At the following rate (L/ac): | Equal to: |
L/ac | mL/ac | L/ac | g ai/ac |
1.98 (PRE/Early post) | 0.56 | 118 | 0.5 | 14 |
1.62 (Post) | 0.46 | 96 | 0.41 | 11.5 |
What crops and stages is Acuron registered on?
- Field corn (pre- or post-emergent to 6 leaf stage)
- Seed corn (pre-emergent only)
- Sweet corn (pre-emergent only)
What weeds will I get control on?
Acuron controls most annual and broadleaf weeds that affect corn farmers including resistant Canada fleabane up to 20 cm tall (including glyphosate-resistant biotypes), as well as glyphosate-resistant waterhemp and giant ragweed.
Acuron also has excellent pre and post activity on annual grasses like fall panicum and crabgrass species.
Please see the label for a full list of weeds controlled and suppressed.
What Acuron packaging options are available?
- 2x10 L cases (12.5 to 10 acres/case applied at 1.6 to 1.98 L/ac)
- 450 L totes (281 to 225 acres/tote applied at 1.6 to 1.98 L/ac)
Can I add glyphosate to Acuron?
Yes! There is no glyphosate in Acuron. Follow WALES for mixing order. Put Acuron in the tank first (L) and then add your glyphosate product (S).
A non-ionic surfactant (NIS) is not needed with this mix.
Can I add 28% UAN + ATS (ammonium thiosulfate) to Acuron?
Yes, but follow these mixing instructions:
- Mixing order = UAN > Acuron > ATS
- If using a pre-mix of UAN + ATS, a ratio of 7:1 UAN:ATS (i.e., 35 gal: 5 gal) or higher has minimal risk of failure when mixed with Acuron.
- If using a pre-mix of UAN + ATS with a ratio less than 7:1 UAN:ATS, you may experience incompatibility when mixed with Acuron. To mitigate this risk, add a tank-mix compatibility agent to the tank first, then add UAN/ATS, then Acuron.
- In general, we recommend you use 15 gal/ac with Acuron. If a weed like fleabane is getting big, ensure you are applying Acuron in enough water for proper coverage.
What is the recommended procedure for proper cleanout of Acuron from my sprayer?
As a best management practice to avoid subsequent injury to other crops, we recommend thoroughly cleaning application equipment immediately after spraying each day. As commonly stated on other Syngenta herbicide labels, we recommend preparing a cleaning solution of one part household ammonia per 25 parts water to aid in the cleanout of your sprayer. A household detergent may also be added to the solution.
Please see the Acuron label for a full explanation of recommended sprayer cleanout procedure.

Performance evaluations are based on internal trials, field observations and/or public information. Data from multiple locations and years should be consulted whenever possible. - See mixing instructions here.
- It is very important to follow the appropriate tank mix order when mixing Primextra II Magnum with glyphosate: Primextra II Magnum > NIS > Glyphosate
- Primextra II Magnum with any formulation of glyphosate requires the addition of a non-ionic surfactant (NIS) when tank mixed – recommend NIS @ 3 L/1000 L.
Yes, but follow these mixing instructions:
- Mixing order: UAN > Primextra II Magnum > ATS
- If using a premix of UAN + ATS, a ratio of 10:1 UAN:ATS (ie. 30 gal: 3 gal) or higher has minimal risk of failure when mixed with Primextra II Magnum.
- If using a pre-mix of UAN + ATS with a ratio less than 10:1 UAN:ATS, occasional incompatibility has occurred when mixed with Primextra II Magnum. To mitigate this risk, you can add a tank-mix compatibility agent to the tank first, then add UAN/ATS, then Primextra II Magnum.

What are the mixing instructions for Halex® GT + atrazine?
- See mixing instructions here.
- It is important to add NIS and AAtrex® Liquid 480 to the mix: NIS > AAtrex > Halex GT. The atrazine will improve uptake of Halex GT and the NIS will help with mixing and with keeping your sprayer clean!
- One rate: 1.7 L/ac
- Apply between spike and 6 leaf on glyphosate-tolerant (GT) corn.
What factor should I use on the Sotera® meter for Syngenta corn herbicides in bulk?
Use these numbers as a starting point to calibrate your meter. The manual can be downloaded here. The cooler and denser a product is, the higher the factor will be.
Acuron @ 5-20°C: 13-15
Primextra II Magnum: 13-15
