Much of southern Ontario has seen near to above normal amounts of precipitation in January, although the deep southwest remained drier than normal.
As shown on the map below, the area from Windsor to about London was shortchanged, even as many other regions, including around Toronto and a large pocket farther east, got more than their normal share. More northern areas, around Sudbury and Elliot Lake, saw still larger amounts.
Meanwhile, the temperature map (below) shows much of southern Ontario also trended colder than normal in January.
Southern Ontario generally saw near-normal precipitation in December, although totals varied widely by location.
According to the latest monthly national drought monitor, much of southern Ontario was still in moderate drought - with pockets of severe drought - as of the end of December.
The 2025 Ontario growing season was too dry in many areas, most notably eastern Ontario, with yields negatively impacted.
