The US spring wheat harvest accelerated well past three-quarters complete this past week, with the finish line coming in view.
According to Monday’s USDA crop progress report, 85% of the American spring wheat crop was in the bin as of Sunday. That is up 13 points from a week earlier and slightly ahead of last year at 83% and the five-year average of 84%.
In the largest production state of North Dakota, the harvest was 78% done as of Sunday, up 16 points on the week, 2 points ahead of last year but 1 point behind average. The Minnesota harvest was 97% complete, compared to 89% a week earlier, and 87% for last year and the average. The Montana crop was 88% harvested, up from 73% the previous week and near 89% last year and 90% on average. The South Dakota harvest advanced 5 points to 96% complete, on par with last year and 2 points behind average.
