Over the course of the last year many label additions and subtractions have occurred. Below is a short summary of each. Stay tuned for more information on these uses over the course of the winter!

Actara 240SC insecticide

Still available for in-furrow use on potatoes in 2023! After a recent Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) re-evaluation, Actara® 240SC remains registered for in-furrow use on potatoes. Instead of adding more to your potato seed treatment, consider applying Actara in-furrow for early season control of aphids, leafhoppers, and Colorado potato beetles.1

Orondis Gold fungicide

Orondis® brand fungicides are known for their potent protection against water mould pathogens, and Orondis Gold fungicide lives up to that reputation, with new uses in 2023:

  • In peppers, Orondis Gold provides Canadian growers a new mode of action mixed with proven, potent chemistry to suppress Phytophthora crown rot. Start your pepper transplants off right with the addition of Orondis Gold at planting.
  • In onions, the trusted chemistries of Ridomil® and Orondis have been combined to formulate Orondis Gold at optimum rates to control downy mildew. Orondis Gold is ideal for onions and does not require a surfactant.

Allegro fungicide

Allegro® fungicide offers a unique chemistry with activity on a wide range of difficult-to-control pathogens, and is now registered for new uses in grapes and cucurbits. Offering a unique mode of action in these crops, a low resistance risk, and activity at various stages of pathogen development, Allegro fits well into many disease management programs.

  • Vineyard growers facing a change in use patterns with their traditional early-season fungicides now have another tool to help them protect their crops. Allegro is an easy fit in a wine grape program for control of dead arm and suppression of anthracnose.
  • Cucurbit growers are always on high alert for downy mildew and gummy stem blight. Allegro is now registered for protection from both diseases early in the growing season.

Here is the current Allegro label.

Envita biofertility product

Give your plants nitrogen when they need it. Envita® is a biofertility product that is now part of the Syngenta portfolio. Envita is a bacteria-based product that allows nitrogen from the surrounding environment to be fixed inside the plant. Working in conjunction with a conventional fertility program, this ensures the crop is not limited by nitrogen availability during the growing season, regardless of weather.

Visit the Envita product page for more information.

Megafol biostimulant

Too hot? Too cold? Too dry? Support your crop in abiotic stress management with Megafol®. Megafol is a liquid foliar biostimulant containing plant extracts that power up the crop and boost regular processes to help the plant respond to stress.

Visit the Megafol product page for more information.

Matador 120EC insecticide

Due to the recent PMRA re-evaluation decision, a limited label now exists for Matador® 120EC insecticide in Eastern Canada horticulture only. New label changes forbid the use of Matador on any crops fed to livestock. Other changes regarding buffer zones and personal protective equipment (PPE) have also been added. Check out the updated label to see if Matador fits into your horticulture crop protection program in 2023.

Voliam Xpress insecticide

Voliam Xpress® insecticide is unavailable in 2023 due to the recent PMRA re-evaluation decision limiting its use on crops used for feed.

1Actara 240 SC may be used to control Colorado potato beetles that are susceptible to a Group 4 chemistry.
